2 Towns Ciderhouse
Grade: 88.5 B+
2 Towns special release has a nice nose that is quite inviting—light, crisp and sweet. Immediately, it is clear this is very drinkable. The draw is effortless, but plenty sharp to wake up your tongue. It has a super fruity finish. What I like about it is that it is your standard semi-sweet, but made with six cider apple varietals and not dessert apples. Five are common cider apples found in the cider world (I’ve never had an Orleans Reinette), but in this case they have retained that semi-sweet standard American feel while adding a more intriguing mouthfeel. So, yes, it is a good balance of sweet and tart, like all good American semi-sweets, but it is elevated just enough that it is worth paying an extra buck or two if you find this in your local bottle shop. I don’t know how long these will be on the shelf, but if a semi-sweet cider is your jam, grab this because it is probably better than that one you see on the shelf all the time.
