Downeast Cider
Grade: 90 A-
Downeast’s Pear is cloudy and has a heavy pastel yellow color. The nose is super fresh and crisp. It has a big pear aroma with a zing of sugar. Oh! Alcoholic beverages should not go down that smooth! It is light, soft and airy with just a brush of bubbles. This is clearly one of the most refreshing ciders I’ve ever had. It takes me back to hot summers playing with my cousin in my grandma’s yard and her coming out with two large cups of light and refreshing lemonade. We’d throw those back and chug the entire thing in one gulp and then keep playing. Now, my grandma would not approve of this alcoholic beverage, but on a hot humid day I am certain I could kill a glass of this in one go. It’s juicy, sweet and tart and I really can’t find anything wrong with it. If you don’t like a sweet and juicy pear, avoid this. (Do such people exist?) Otherwise, this is the perfect sweet remedy for a hot and humid southern summer. Like a liquid dessert pear.
