Pivot Brewing
Grade: 89 B+
Pivot’s Kentucky Sunrise has an orangish-amber glow and a great and bold nose of sweet cherries with sweet and floral notes as well. Oh, that’s nice! Soft and fruity. There is a hit of cherries in the middle phase which gets more tart as it finishes, leaving you with a pretty good tongue curl. The pull is nice with only a very subtle acidic pop, but it is still quite juicy with a luscious mouthfeel. It is medium-bodied but with a softness from the pears. It is definitely sweet, but balances out nicely. I admit, I have never had a traditional Kentucky sunrise with bourbon, so I don’t know how this compares, but it does have a cocktail/fruit punch quality to it and I definitely could see this fruity concoction pairing well with brunch. I certainly wouldn’t mind a few of these Kentucky Sunrises from Pivot on a hot Southern summer day. A sweet treat!
