Hale & True Cider Co.
Grade: 80 B-
Hale and True’s Goldberry has a really sharp nose of citric acid, I’m guessing that comes from the lemons. I have had this drink a few times and something in the nose of this one smells a bit off. The taste is how I remembered though—dry with a subtle strawberry taste and the lemon just perks it up a bit—especially in the finish when it really rises in the back of the throat. This is fundamentally dry apple cider with some subtle and mellow fruit tones. There is just a bit of bitterness from super sour lemons, but this flavor is pretty quiet and not too in your face. A very dry cider that still has you licking your lips just a tad at the end.
“The River Daughter,” fermented with strawberry and finished with lemon, bright and fruity, off-dry
