Pivot Brewing
Grade: 87 B
Pivot’s Two to Mango has a nice, sweet pear and mango nose and a deep gold color. If you really take it in it has a quite deep rich and buttery aroma. Oh, why, hello! It starts off like a regular cider and then you get this bump of mango in the finish. The draw is very smooth, and it is fairly flat with a soft mouthfeel. It was not very acidic in the first phase, but then you get this bite that rises and crescendos into the mango flavor, followed by this interesting changing of the guards from a more malic acid to a more citric acid—maybe a chem prof can tell me what is happening on my tongue—but the end result is quite pleasant. A soft, jammy, gum like flavor lingers in the finish. It is more of an artificial mango flavor than a fresh mango juice, but it is a really good soft fruit cider that’s a hint tropical and perfect for summer.
Apple cider, pear concentrate, and natural flavors.
