New Mexico Hard Cider
Grade: 88.5 B+
New Mexico’s Extra Dry has a lightly opaque yellow mango color and a really nice citrusy nose. It is bold but soft and fruity at the same time. Eooowh that’s really good. It is sharp, pretty acidic, with a deeply tart sour punch. It is almost like a slightly sweet sidra. It definitely has a little twang but no burn and is still pretty refreshing. The mouthfeel is slightly watery around the edges, but it is a good light-to-medium bodied cider with a great finish that just lingers with a bit of alcohol vapors and a tangy tartness. This seems like the ideal American-style farmhouse—dry, acidic, a bit funky, but a lighter mouthfeel that is refreshing with a bold flavor. It wouldn’t be difficult to drink this at all.
