Pivot Brewing
Grade: 88 B+
Pivot’s Taj Mahalo smells like a baked pineapple pie (sidenote: why have I never had one of those?) I pick up a lot more cinnamon than chai in the nose. Oh, that’s interesting. Savory and tart at the same time. It has a light mouthfeel but big bold flavors. Its pretty sweet but not overboard and the rush of spice in the second phase keeps it in check. The finish is a unique experience for cider as you have a pretty tart bite that will have you sucking your tongue along with tingles from the savory spices running down your tongue. This fairly still cider is sweet, savory and intense. It is more for adventuresome surfers than casual sunbathers.
