C Squared Ciders
Grade: 87 B
CSquared’s Dark Tart Cherry is not very carbonated and what bubbles there are rise incredibly uniformly. It has a dark rich cherry aroma that also smells like slightly bitter cocoa powder or a chocolate and caramel baked good. Hmmm that’s an intriguing cider. Not only does this look like wine but it has a heavy, largely still mouthfeel that has a sour alcohol feel as it moves from the second phase to the finish. That flat cocoa aroma is matched by a similar taste which is slightly bitter and dulls the flavor and mouthfeel, masks the acidity, but it lifts at the end letting some nice tart and sweet notes peek through. The body is fairly satiating and not too thick and very smooth. It is mostly dry with some residual sweetness. An easy drinking mysterious drink indeed.
Made with dark sweet cherry juice, the dark cider has a hint of dark chocolate flavor.
